The last few posts have been kind of lacking testosterone. So this here, this will be a manly post. About Miley Cyrus... I mean about HULK HOGAN!!!!!!!
yes that is right, the living legend, the man, Hulk Hogan.
His real name is Terry Bollea, but most of the world knows him as Hulk Hogan (and for a time in the late 90's Hollywood Hogan). He was originally a bass player in a band, and a college drop out who just loved watching prowrestling. He spent a lot of time at the gym and one day he met Mike Graham (pro wrestler) and later his giant stature caught the attention of Jack and Gerald Brisco. He started training for Pro-wrestling and spent many years wrestling under various names, he was even extremely successful in the Japanese circuit of wrestling. He payed his dues for a long time but it wasn't until Vincent McMahon jr got involved that his career really launched.
He earned his nickname "Hulk" when he appeared on a late night talk show where he sat next to Lou Ferrigno (the original incredible hulk) and the host commented that Hogan made Ferrigno look like a dwarf. He went on to say that Hogan should be "the Hulk" and thus the name stuck (however at the time Hogan wasn't Hogan he would Boulder so he became hulk boulder which is a horrible name).
Anyway after Mr. Boulder (stupid) had been wrestling for sometime and doing quite well for himself he signed on with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF now WWE) which had recently come under new management. Vince McMahon jr. had just bought his dad's company and was ready to take the WWF to the next level with Hulk Hogan (finally) as his star.
It was at this time that Hulk Hogan became more than a man, he became an idea. He wrestled the Iron Sheik (it was the 80's and we were in a cold war with Russia) and he won. He became not only the american hero, but the center of Hulk-a-mania! At the end of the match the crowd went nuts and the announcer, Gorrilla Monsoon (I'm not making that name up) declared "Hulk-a-mania is running wild! Afterwards Hogan's fan became Hulk-a-maniacs and he became an icon. But his icon status was cemented in 1987 when he defended the Heavy Weight title at Wrestle-mania III against Andre The Giant (Fezzik from the Princess Bride). He body slammed the 520 pound man and won by pin fall.
After that Hogan's career continued on and he did lots of cool things that most people know about. But not many know about his early career so I thought I would tell you.
The reason that I wanted to write about Hulk Hogan is that I love this guy. I mean in the 80's and 90's there was no one cooler (maybe Michael Jordan, but not really). Anyway the reason that he is so awesome is that he was such a cool guy. He was one of the most requested people for the make-a-wish foundation, he used his celebrity for good (during most of his career, in the late 90s he did some weird stuff we will just forgive that though). During the highest points of Hulk-a-mania he created his 4 Demandments... (like a commandment but better?) they were as follows 1. train 2. Pray 3. Eat your vitamins 4. believe in oneself. As someone who was at a WWF event live (yeah my older brother took me, did I say he was the best?) and experienced Hulk-a-mania running wild, and was a Hulk-a-maniac cheering him on, I have to say that made is made out of awesome. I mean he captures the imagination unlike most other people, he fights for what is right (most of the time) and holy cow he is a great performer. The amazing thing about him is that no one in prowrestling has yet to dethrone him. He will and forever be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. When he beat Andre the Giant, Andre was doing Hogan a career favor. Andre was about to retire and knew that if Hogan won he would be the next big thing. Hogan has tried to repay this favor multiple times to other people but it has never worked. The person who beat him never achieved the same kind of success and ultimately Hogan returned to the ring and Hulk-a-mania continues. It is rare that something like that can happen, that one man, can transcend everything and become more than a man. Not many people have ever done it, but to my inner child, Hulk-a-mania will live forever.
Keep on rocking in the free world.

You left out the 5th demandment.
5. Inject steroids (he has admitted it)
He is definitely a man to be respected. As Robert pointed out, all of us make mistakes, but he is one who was man enough to admit it.
I got to see him live as a kid as well. I don't remember what other wrestlers were there but I remember seeing the Hulk. It was pretty awesome.
